Player rules

Last updated 17 Sep 2026

These rules apply to every wager match and tournament on FaceOff. Lobby-specific settings (game mode, match length, allowed options) are shown on each game's lobby page and take precedence for that game.

1. Eligibility & accounts

  • You must be 18+ and legally allowed to take part in skill-based competitions where you live.
  • One account per person. Account sharing, boosting, or playing on someone else's behalf is a permanent ban.
  • Your gamertags must be your own and kept up to date. If your opponent can't reach you on the listed tag within 10 minutes, you forfeit.

2. Matches

  • Once matched, both stakes are locked in escrow. You cannot back out; leaving = forfeit.
  • Play the exact mode and settings listed in the lobby rules. If your opponent proposes different settings you may decline; if you play anyway, you accept them.
  • Both players must be ready within 10 minutes of the match being created. A no-show forfeits.
  • Disconnects: if the game's own system awards a result, that result stands. Otherwise: disconnect in the first 25% of a match = replay; later = the player who disconnected forfeits unless both agree to replay.
  • Rage-quitting, plugging, or deliberately stalling = loss.

3. Reporting results

  1. Both players report the winner in the match room right after the game.
  2. If both reports agree, the pot (minus the 10% platform fee) is paid instantly and ratings update.
  3. If only one player reports and the other stays silent for 15 minutes, the reported result stands.
  4. If reports conflict, a dispute opens automatically and the pot stays in escrow.

Always screenshot or record the final result screen. Without evidence, a disputed match is decided on whatever proof exists — and a player with no proof loses to a player with proof.

4. Disputes

  • Post evidence in the dispute room: result-screen screenshot, clip/VOD, in-game match history. Include timestamps.
  • Moderators aim to rule within 24 hours. Rulings are final.
  • Knowingly submitting a false result is a strike. Three strikes = permanent ban and forfeiture of in-escrow funds. Fabricated evidence = immediate permanent ban.
  • If neither side has usable evidence, the match is voided and both stakes refunded.

5. Fair play

  • No cheats, mods, macros, lag-switching, VPN abuse for region, or exploiting game bugs.
  • No collusion or match-fixing (including "trading" wins with a friend to farm rating or bonuses).
  • Any in-game platform ban (VAC, Activision, EA, Riot…) discovered on a linked account = permanent FaceOff ban.
  • Smurfing: deliberately losing to lower your rating is a strike.

6. Tournaments

  • Check-in opens 15 minutes before start. Unchecked players are dropped and refunded.
  • Brackets are seeded by rating. Byes go to top seeds.
  • Rounds have a 20-minute window unless stated. Delays beyond that forfeit the slower player.
  • Prize pool = entry fees minus 10% fee, plus any added money. Paid to wallets immediately on completion.

7. Conduct

Harassment, hate speech, threats, or doxxing in any FaceOff channel (match room, dispute room, community) result in suspension. Trash talk is fine; abuse isn't.

8. Money

  • Platform fee: 10% of every wager pot and every tournament pool. No fee on deposits; withdrawals over €10 are free.
  • Withdrawals go to the payment method used for deposits (anti-money-laundering). Identity verification may be required above €1,000 cumulative.
  • Funds in escrow cannot be withdrawn until the match resolves.

9. Strikes

Minor: warning. Strike 1: 24h suspension. Strike 2: 7 days. Strike 3: permanent. Cheating and fraud skip straight to permanent.
